Neami National is a community-based recovery and rehabilitation service supporting people living with mental illness and psychiatric disability to improve their health, live independently and pursue a life based on their own strengths, values and goals. We provide services in more than 50 locations, ranging from the inner-city and suburbs to regional and remote parts of Australia.

We use an approach called the Collaborative Recovery Model (CRM) to support people through our services. The CRM assists individuals to identify their personal strengths and values, to set goals and then helps them make progress towards achieving them.

About the Role
Position title: Consumer Participation Officer
Employment Status: Part Time hours 0.5 FTE (2.5 days per week)
Classification and Salary: CSS Level 4 from $71,178 - $76,630 pa (pro rata) dependent on skills and experience
Location: Neami Brunswick
Hours: Between Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm
Contract details: Two years fixed term contract to 3 August 2018
We are looking for an applicant who can work with teams across all Neami sites in Victoria to encourage consumer participation. One aspect of the role will be to support consumers with the transition to the NDIS. We require an enthusiastic individual with a lived experience of recovery to take a leadership role, and initiate and maintain systems and processes for consumer participation. The person will play a key role in supporting an active and inclusive approach to consumer participation in all aspects within the state and contribute to the organisation as a whole. The successful applicant will be required to drive to all service sites within their State maybe some travel interstate for quarterly meetings.
Guided by the Consumer Participation Framework, the Consumer Participation Officer will actively promote and ensure genuine participation is supported in a sustainable and achievable manner. The Framework sets out the principles to guide the way that Neami engages and works together with consumers. It describes a spectrum of types of participation with an increasing level of involvement as well as a process for initiating consumer participation activities.
