Neami staff from around the country came together in Melbourne at the Neami National Leadership Conference (NLC) from 16th – 18th November. The NLC provided an opportunity to learn from each other and industry leading keynote speakers, and to continue to equip Neami leaders to respond to changes in the mental health landscape.
Michael McQueen, social researcher, kicked off the keynote presentations on day one with a presentation on ‘Winning the Battle for Relevance’. Across the conference, keynote speakers presented on topics as varied as ‘The Future of Mental Health’, ‘Development of a Strategic Quality System’ and ‘Demonstrating Effectiveness in Service Delivery’. The final keynote speaker on day three, Graeme Cowan, wrapped up the conference with a presentation on ‘Creating a Mentally Resilient Culture’.
In addition to guest presenters, Neami learnt from each other with staff led workshops, masterclasses and presentations. An innovation session saw six pitches from Neami staff on ways we can continue to improve mental health service. The winning pitch involved the use of virtual reality to improve consumer experience.
