Neami National and Metro North Brisbane Mental Health Service (MNMH) have commenced a partnership to deliver Nundah House, a new alternative to admission service in Nundah, north of Brisbane.
Nundah House will provide a recovery-focused model of Step Up Step Down care. Offering short-term, residential rehabilitation and recovery services Nundah House will play an effective role in avoiding hospitalisation, supporting rehabilitation, reducing the need for admission and transitioning back into the community following acute care.
The service functions as a "step up" from the community, into a supportive residential environment as people become unwell or a "step down" from a hospital setting, to enable a supported return to the community.
MNMH will provide clinical leadership, supported by Neami's approach to quality, safety and clinical governance. Neami's experience operating Step Up Step Down services in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia will inform how we approach the new service. We know that building and maintaining effective partnerships with clinical providers and actively sharing knowledge and experience, results in positive outcomes for consumers. We will look to continue this approach at Nundah House.
Nundah House will offer a balance of individual support provided by a multi-disciplinary team including staff with a lived experience of mental illness, coupled with a comprehensive and structured group program.
